The nervous system or scientifically called the systema nervosum is an integral part of a human body and any animal that needs to coordinate all their actions, in order to accomplish simple tasks such as walking, eating, or running. The formulation of nervous tissue first began on planet earth approximately five hundred to six hundred million years prior to today. The entire system is primarily categorized into two aspects, one is the central or CNS while the other one is strictly peripheral or PNS. CNS is primarily consisting of a brain and spinal cord while the latter is composed of all the nerve endings, which extends all throughout the different parts. The brain is the primary organ that makes use of the most energy within the body because it receives signals coming from different parts, formulates the thought process, and then sends out the messages for the appropriate responses or movements. Scientists have long stated that each living entity and primarily humans, are essentially living in a world that is filled with interactive virtual reality. Unlike a digital camera, the rods and cones located within the retina is not able to produce images like the aforementioned device. Instead, the way it works is by sending out small sums of electrical impulses to the brain. These electrical impulses are comprised of shapes, lighting, and edges of various objects coupled with light wavelengths, which enters the eyes. After which, the brain interprets the signals and formulates the entire image.

Involuntary reactions are called as such because these are triggers that the brain does not process, which is why the body automatically reacts to it. This includes the knee jerk reflex or when the hand touches something too hot and automatically removes it or moves. This happens because the reflex arcs tend to use the nerve pathways it finds, which sends out an impulse signal to the spinal cord. After which, it goes straight towards the targeted motor neurons, which means no though process whatsoever is involved and the reaction is immediate and swift.

Conversely, babies are known to be capable of producing almost all the sounds of every human language. When they first begin to learn how to speak, they tend to make all sorts of sounds that adults dismiss as baby gibberish. However, they lose this capability when they learn their first few words and phrases.

Whenever a person attempts to tickle themselves, it simply does not work. The reasoning behind this is because the cerebellum prevents it from happening since it can make accurate predictions on movements and transmits a damping signal to the central unit, which is responsible for processing touch. Due to this, tickling only works when other people do it since the cerebellum is not able to predict it.

Neurons can be categorized into three different aspects. The sensory neurons absorb new stimuli while motor neurons transmits the signals they receives to tissues and different organs. Lastly, association neurons are considered bridges that connect the two with each other.
