GPUs are used to fly and power an aircraft. Without this, no aircraft will work, that is how important an aircraft ground power unit is. To avoid it from getting damage, an inspection and maintenance will be vital. When it is that time of the year for a GPU inspection, different areas will be inspected during the process.

GPUs are always used so it is jut vital to keep it in good hands and to always inspect it. Proper maintenance is the answer for this. When not maintained the right way, dangers will come next and it would cost you a big amount of money. For your maintenance plan, do not forget to include all the basics, rest, inspections, and calibrations. Below are tips on how to properly care for your GPUS.

First is the basics. You have to remember that the power of your GPU should be shut off before you attempt to use or inspect it. If it needs to be powered during an inspection or when performing troubleshooting, make sure that someone is with you during the process and that someone knows how to shut down the machine. Safety first.

For the filter. Filters for oils and fuels must be changed every 300 hours according to the experts. The same goes for the oil used. During these times, air filter condition has to be checked as well. When you found out that it is already dirty, replace it right away as this could cause you problem when not taken action right away.

Cooling system. For the cooling system, check its radiator cap first. This should be calibrated well in the right pressure which is found on the manufacturer guideline. Do an inspection to the rubber seal if there are any cracks visible or you see other signs of damages, replaced it with another.

An intensive weight wash will more often than not go far in helping proficiency. All hoses are inspected for spillage and all cinches checked for snugness. When you see any green recoloring in your radiator balances, a break is present. A weight test will be the following request of business.

Undercarriage. Next on your list is to inspect the undercarriage and running rigging. Inspect the activity and the modification of the break. Tires are checked for appropriate swelling and wear. When tires are uneven, look a good look at its arrangement and the toe settings. Tow bars requires consideration, as well. Hooks should be in place and no excessive side movements.

Engine of the GPU. Oil leaks is what you keep an eye out for. Inspect the connections, wirings, and sensors if bald spots are starting to come out. Isolators are not experiencing any cracking sound and distortion. For the wheels, always make sure that they are clean and inspected. Tires have correct inflation and no sign of uneven wear. If it has, check toe settings as well as the alignment.

The last thing you would need to check is the break, safe operation and correct adjustment. For your tow bars, it must be able to latch the lock in place and not bend over from side to side not much. When you find yourself having a hard time in doing this all by yourself, you might wanna hire somebody do to the work for you.
