Importance Of Active Shooter Response Training PA

By Jose Martin

Most often people think of robberies, gangs and murders when thinking of shootings. In some areas, this is often the case. Although, there have been far more mass and school shootings over the last several decades in different cities and states in the United States. As such, there is now an active shooter response training PA which can help individuals know the best way to react if and when involved in such an incident.

While one of the most important things one can learn in this type program is understanding various options. At the same time, having access to the tools needed to bring the situation to a halt such as having metal detectors and security guards is something that is still not in place in many areas. Whereas, those attending these training sessions are often taught one of the most important actions of all, when in doubt, get out.

In most cases, these incidents involve more than person whom uses a firearm such as an assault rifle, shotgun or in some cases handguns to start a shooting spree. While there have been many such incidents, there have also been many which have been prevented by fellow students whom became aware of such plans in advance.

Since the early 1990s, violent crime in schools were far more frequent than those experienced away from school. While this is the case, in 2007 crimes which occurred in schools and the public sector were basically the same. It should be that school violence is in no way a new phenomenon. Regardless, it is something that needs to stop so that innocent children and others do not continue to be innocent victims of such incidents.

Even as far back before radio and television, there were incidents involving violence in schools. For example, while of different scope and size, the first shooting known to involve a school was when an Native American tribe infiltrated a school house, killing the schoolmaster and all but 3 children. As such, the loss of life during such incidents began way back before one could be motivated to do so by radio and television stories or video games.

Reports show that there were twenty four reported school shootings in 2014. It was a difficult year for students at all levels. For, those committing these crimes had no discrimination to age or grade level. Something that was well proved by the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting and those in other elementary, middle and high schools.

These incidents regardless of location can last for minutes, hours or in some cases, days. Also, while some shootings are spread across a great distance, others are more localized. As such, when encountering such emergencies, it is important to evacuate the area as quickly as possible or find a room with a locked door, lock the door, hide under tables and chairs and remain inside until the incident comes to an end.

Whether at school, a business or public sector, those whom attend these training sessions have the ability to prevent, or at least secure those in the area of such incidents. For, knowing how to react in such situations can often be beneficial whether one is in direct contact with a shooter or within close proximity. Learning how to stay alert and aware during an emergency can often help individuals understand how to keep oneself and others safe until first responders arrive on scene.
